Zurich is the nearest airport to Savognin with a two hour rail transfer, providing the perfect opportunity to absorb the breathtaking swiss landscape. Rail travel is extremely well organised in Switzerland, and the ‘Swiss Transfer ticket' allows one free rail journey from the airport (or land border) to your holiday destination and back within a month.

Our hotel, ‘Cube' in Savognin has only been open since 2005 and as the name implies, is a unique concept of very modern architecture and practical living. Built with sport and fun in mind, each room has a transparent temperature regulated ‘showroom' at the front, sensibly allowing you to leave your snowgear to dry over night. The accent is on shared living space with no comfy chairs in the rooms, inevitably urging you to share your ski mishaps over a glass of gluhwein in the spacious seating area.

You can't avoid a healthy glow in Switzerland as so much activity is focussed on being outside. A great place to wind down and relax your newly found muscles is to take a dip at the Bad Alvaneu spa, just a couple of miles outside Savognin. The water is kept at a constant 34C and you can swim through a plastic curtain to the great outdoors.

As you lie back thinking pure mountain filled thoughts, the hot steam gently drifts across the warm water. Ever resourceful, you could also take up the opportunity to experience the Skateline Abula - a three metre long ice skating path undulating through the country side.
