What to wear this Spring Summer 08

Ok Busy Girls, it may have been blowing a gale in our part of the world this week, but let's face it, fashion waits for no cloud to pass. The fashionistas have moved on & over the last few weeks Spring Summer 2008 has arrived.

Here's our brief round up of the latest trends to hit the catwalk...

Print Mania

Fashion has gone print crazy. Bold florals, modern techno prints, sprigs, dollops and blobs... from Luella to Stella, Gabbana to Chloe, designers have mixed their florals, splatters and sprays - the bigger the better.

Romantic Aspirations

Think floral shapes, frills, floaty dresses, layered pleats and bows in silks, satins and sheers. The romantic look is in!

Gathered ankle trousers

Well, what on earth else are we supposed to call them? Sounds awful and to be honest, the Girls here at Busy Girls HQ are seriously struggling with this look. Think, erm, Aladdin - full silk trousers gathered tight at the ankle.

Jumpsuits

Good God. As if that wasn't bad enough, here's another weird and wonderful style, inspired by Star Trek. The jumpsuit is back - wear yours with tights or if you've got Naomi Campbell's pins, try bare legs.

But please - if you're short, go for a short version and if you’re tall, opt for a fuller shape - tight overalls are not a good look.

Sheer Luxury

See-though shirts, sheer blouses, lace & light silks, oh yes - there will be bras showing everywhere this summer Busy Girl. Just make sure you opt for the right coloured bra - we don't want to see a white bra under a black blouse now do we?

Full Skirts

The dress has been the focal point of the last 2 seasons, so we were interested to see the skirt make a comeback this season.

Anyone can indulge in it - big, small, tall, short, old or young. Make sure your flared skirt flares from the waist not the hips. Emphasise your waist with a statement belt for a complete on-trend look.

And the rest...

Tropical Disco - which basically means bright, bright, bright! Opt for maxi dresses in bright yellows, purples, reds, combinations of all tropical shades.

Traveller chic - think "I've just been to Africa and found this wonderful wrap" or "check out my tie-die skirt, fresh from Glastonbury"...

Pyjamas - yes the bed variety, we're told to wear them in silky fabrics with a bikini top, for the beach (erm?).

Chaos - this means wearing all the hideous things from the 80's you shoved into the back of your wardrobe, all at once - the more hideous the better (yes - this is one of this season's Spring fashions - fact!)

Boudoir - like you've just stepped out of a madam's parlour, but a bit classier. Think lingerie worn as outerwear. We think a bit of lace peeping under a cashmere jumper would do it nicely.
