Edinburgh's a beautiful city with plenty to see and do. To make the most of your weekend, check bmi for offers on their direct flights from Manchester.
You could stay cheap and cheerful at the centrally-located St Christopher’s Inn Bar and Hostel opt for the delightful Malmaison in the trendy waterside suburb of Leith, or splash out on something special at the fabulous One Royal Circus
For sightseeing, stroll along the Royal Mile up to Edinburgh Castle; enjoy city views from rugged Calton Hill, and try one of the Mercat Tours, for history sprinkled with drama.
The New Town is the place for shopping, especially the boutiques along Rose Street and William Street – but don’t miss the cutting-edge Totty Rocks in the Old Town. For nightlife, I recommend Iglu, a lovely, trendy bar/restaurant with ethical credentials, and the Dragonfly Cocktail bar.
