Nipping out for lunch

Nipping out for lunch

Going out for lunch doesn't have to mean a sandwich or a sit down restaurant meal - now, with the introduction of Mai Bai Sushi Deli off Albert Square in Manchester Centre, we have the option of a lovely, healthy, tasty lunch - fast!

The brainchild of Irish Busy Girl Lisa O'Hagan (yes, she's Irish!) Mai Bai Sushi Deli was the result of her travels around the world. A chartered surveyor many moons ago, she decided to leave the work or corporate to bring us Manchester Busy Girls great Oriental food in a relaxed, comfortable setting.

When we reviewed Mai Bai Sushi Deli, we tucked into a fantastic selection of Mai Bai specials - Edamame Beans, Sushi & Chicken Ramen.

Edamame Beans, if you've not heard of them, have been hailed by Victoria Beckham as the 'super-slimming bean' (not that she needs them I hear you cry!). But before Mrs Beckham had her name on them, we'd been secretly tucking into them at every opportunity. They're a bit like an Oriental Sugar Snap, but they come as a starter, steamed with salt.

Word of warning - simply suck the bean pods out of the shells & don't eat the shells!

If you're worried about eating too much at lunch Mai Bai Manchester is a perfect option, because the Sushi & stir frys are really light & healthy.

Mai Bai Manchester offers a wide range of sushi, noodles, stir fries & ramen soups to eat in or takeaway. It's like a cute little coffee shop, very low key & understated with an air of uber cool, grundgy comfort. The food is great, the service swift & the concept simple. So, now, eating lunch can be quick, tasty, healthy & fun - thanks Lisa!

Mai Bai Sushi Deli, 37 Princess Street, Manchester, M2 4FN - Open 'til 8pm
