Hair style advice for Busy Girls
Got a few greys? Fed up with your roots? Want a perm like Kate Moss? Your hair questions answered, Busy Girl...
"Dear Busy Girls, I'm only 28 & have found some white hairs can you please help?"
Depending on the amount of white / grey hair you have you could either act or leave it. If you've less than 5% white hair simply ask a hairdresser to cover the area with a semi-permanent toner. If you have over 5% then you may need a permanent toner. However, if there are simply a handful of grey hairs on your crown, think about whether anyone can really see them - chances are it's only you on scrutiny!
"How can I grow my hair longer, quicker?"
Your hair will only grow at one rate - your rate, so you can't really speed it up. However, by keeping it in good condition, you can keep the length by preventing it from splitting & breaking. Trim your hair at least every 8 weeks, and use moisturising and protein hair masques.
"I had a perm 4 weeks ago but I hate it and I keep blow drying it straight. How long should I wait to have it permanently straightened?"
At least 6 weeks, but having said that, having your hair chemically straightened will dry your hair out, so make sure you have intensive conditioning treatments to keep it healthy.
"I have mousy brown hair naturally but have it highlighted. But my roots come through too quickly - the rest of the hair is still very blond, but the roots let it down. Can I just have my roots done instead of the whole head?"
Costs a fortune & takes ages, doesn't it? Try this - have a full head done once a year, half a head done every 6 months and then each month in between have your T section done (the parting & the front hairline).
This way you only colour the areas that need it, that everyone can see and save yourself a fortune!
"My shoulder length hair is quite thick with a bit of a wave (curly when its wet, and just sticks out when its dry). How do I get my hair to dry with curls?"
Kate Moss had a perm last week, so curls are definitely in. For natural curly hair the best thing to do is apply a mousse to towel dried hair & then dry with a diffusing head on your hairdryer.
If your hair simply won't take curls this way, the next best thing is to curl with your straightners - simply take a strand between the irons and rotate the curl whilst pulling the straightners down.Takes a bit of practice, but it's good when it clicks!
