Fabulous Winter Tights

"Dear Busy Girls. What's going on with tights this season? I keep seeing lots of fabulous pairs in magazines, like animal prints, but I can't find them anywhere. I'd also love some support tights with a bit of flair do you know where I can get some? Thank you so much for your help!" Carole, Cheshire

Tights are one of the staple pieces I'm telling all my clients to buy as this season they're better than ever before. Think of the unimaginable & I can almost guarantee they'll be in a shop somewhere! From silver Lurex to winter white, you can find everything on the high street.

One point to note busy girls... light, bright & patterned tights should only be worn if you love your legs. The colour will attract the eye straight to your pins so if you don't like them, stick to black opaques which trim you down.

Coloured tights

Topshop have an amazing range of tights, but sell out quickly. Topshop stock a range of tights thickness plus you can be picky whether you want footless or not. My personal favourites are the Silver Lurex Tights (£12) for a bit of sparkle on a wintery morning without being too garish for the office. If you prefer a thinner denier with all the vibrancy, try Primark. At only £1 a pair it doesn’t matter if you only wear them once!

Patterned tights

The animal print tights you mention Carole, are from Accessorise at only £8 - they come in blue, red & pink too! Pick out a key trend of the season & team them with a pair of cut off shorts & chunky boots. Alternatively, slim your legs down with vertical striped tights from Oasis (£6).

Support

Support tights are one of my must-have buys. It's worth investing in a good quality pair that will outlast this season's trend. The down-side to support tights is that there's often a limited variety available. For opaque tights with great support, Wolford & Spanx have a great selection, with prices starting at £18. However, Marks & Spencer have edged out slightly with their Bodyshaper range available in both diamond & argyle designs (£6) in store now.
