Restaurant Review: Supperclub, London
Shopping & Reviews
Hot on the heels of its exclusive venues in Singapore and Amsterdam, the eagerly anticipated Supperclub has finally arrived in London...
The Supperclub, formally Neighbourhood club, is in trendy Notting Hill- a favourite hangout for artists, fashionistas and the well heeled.
As we rocked up to the club, smack bang in the middle of Portobello market, there was a real buzz in the air from the creativity going on around us. When you enter the club there is a small bar area where you can grab a champagne (the drink of choice of course dahling!) or a fabulous Supperclub cocktail like the delectable "Arrogance".
Supperclub's motto is "unexpected combinations lead to unexpected liberations" and as you walk from the dimly entrance bar through to the main area you will see why from the spectacle that awaits. From the walls and floor to the waiters and entertainers everything is stark white.
A dj spins tunes from chill out to 80s electro dance whilst entertainers perform wacky shows on the stage or around the dancefloor. Some of the shows we saw included a camp disco act and a nymph like woman, tied to the ceiling by toilet paper, dancing and wrapping herself around it. Shows in this adult playground are intended to surprise you and the line between the entertainment and the clientele is blurred which makes it all the more interesting. We saw a girl extravagantly dressed in 20's attire who was in fact there to party not a member of staff.
And in true Supperclub style there are beds all around the edges over the two floors for you to relax on while you drink, dine and even get massaged. The venue is perfect for a Busy Girl to relax, eat or dance all under one roof - it's a fun place to socialise whilst still being
able to hear a conversation.
BUSY TOP TIP: Do NOT drink red wine at Supperclub if you think you are prone to spillages!
Supper, created by ex Oxo Tower chef Renaud Marin, is served over two hours and the club describes the cuisine as "international with no boundaries".
Every night there is a different surprise four course menu and if it was anything like ours you will be in foodie heaven- the dishes were to die for especially the thai fishcakes and squid balls served with a mustard sauce. And even though Supperclubs are notoriously expensive you will only pay £50 a head for dinner and entertainment! What a bargain!
Whether you fancy a night out with the girls or a unique date venue Supperclub is fabulous- however you need to be very open minded. It wouldn't be the place to celebrate a family occasion as some of the live shows are pretty wild- think naked entertainers taped to walls and lots of nipple tassles!
