How to keep to your Resolutions for more than a day!
Life & Love
When was the last time you kept to your New Years resolution, BusyGirl? It's a New Year so does that also mean a New You? Good intentions aren't everything...
With almost every resolution made, there's the acknowledgement it won't be kept. After years of false starts, BusyGirls brings you some well-honed tips on trying to stick to your resolutions, once and for all...
Make it realistic - Changes work best if you ease into them. Start your resolutions on January 11th this year, when the initial post holiday-mourning has subsided, making you more ready to make changes. If you have several resolutions, start with one or two then build on them, a small taste of success is a good incentive
If you resolved to go to the gym 4 times a week last year and didn't, try once a week and build up each month until you hit the desired level and you'll be more likely to stick to it. If the gym is too costly or miles away, get a fitness DVD for those rainy days.
Make it a challenge - The old "I'm giving up gherkins dipped in chocolate" resolution has had its day. If resolving to do something, make it a real, useful and positive!
Make it fun - If wishing to keep fit without the gym or meet someone new without going on blind dates, your local community may have the answer. Things such as language lessons, arts and crafts or dance lessons will help you meet new people and learn new skills.
Make it a group thing- The best incentives are the physical ones that will drag you out of bed or engage you in a competition. If you find a common goal with a friend you may find your inspiration.
Make a difference - Of course a new beginning need not stop at self-improvement. A great way to feel good and further your education about the world is to be involved in a charity. Contributing to your local soup kitchen or charitable foundation is always a worthwhile cause and if time is a factor, regular monthly donations of whatever you can afford can herald a new beginning for those in need of it most.
Good luck Busy Girl! x
