The fourth of the Apex Hotels located in Edinburgh, the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel is a boutique-style residence; a blend of contemporary furnishings with lots of added extras to make your stay extra enjoyable.

Our Master Suite, on the 9th Floor, was cosy, beautofully furnished and very comfortable with everything we could need for a home-from-home style weekend away.

Our room had two 42" flat screen TVs, a huge free standing bath, coffee on tap from the King of Espresso, Nespresso, and a mini iPod docking station to keep us entertained throughout our stay.

Venturing down to the bar, we found a menu packed full of light nibbles, the fondue for two (chocolate or cheese) caught our eye at only £9.00.

Afternoon tea is also served in the bar- choose from a champagne selection from £23 or non-alcoholic for £14.

Room service from Elliott's Restaurant was fast, good quality and very fairly priced. Often room service is such a disappointment, but the Apex Waterloo Place served up good portions of freshly prepared sandwiches, sides, wines and a great cooked breakfast, all for the same price you would expect from a regular restaurant (sandwiches £4.95, chunky chips £2.95, room service delivery for £2 per order).

Every room at the Apex Waterloo Place is fitted with WiFi, available at no extra charge for the duration of your stay. And, for those wishing to book their own activities and restaurants, local rate calls are also free for the duration.

Standard rooms are well designed, a decent size and fitted out to a high standard. For honeymooners or special occassions, their split level 'apartments' offer mini kitchens, separate lounge areas and bed-deck and huge ensuite on the second floor (the shower can fit eight people!)
