Cosy up this winter

“Dear Busy Girls Guide.

I’ve just split from my boyfriend on 2 years, although we should have separated earlier. I feel quite alone and as if I want to meet someone new but I just don’t know where to look, without feeling desperate.

Most of my friends are married and I can’t bear being the ‘single one’ at dinner parties. Can you give me some pointers because winter nights are drawing in and I don’t want to hibernate alone. Thanks Cheryl, Chester”

Dear Cheryl,

Don’t despair. You can enlist your friends' help by asking them to invite unattached men they know to those dinner parties. Why not? Your ex was a stranger until you met him, so don’t be coy about asking for help.

Girlie goings on

If your friends are unhelpful then team up with a single girlfriend and try going out together, but have a pact that if either of you actually meet someone nice the other one won’t get into a snit if you happily get chatted up.

Be safe

Just don’t abandon each other at the end of the evening, that’s dangerous. You don’t say how old you are, but clubs and pubs are now offering a lot of singles nights and if you feel up to it these nights can be fun.

Get dating

As I work for and love Searchmate so much, I simply have to suggest joining a dating agency. Searchmate offers a bespoke service where you are interviewed in the comfort of your own home, and we do the hard work of finding that special someone for you.

There are memberships to fit all budgets and you know the men have been vetted for you! What could be easier?

Good luck and don’t think you’re desperate - you’re pro-active!

Nancy x
