Car cleaning tips for lazy busy girls
We've all been there. You collect your brand new pride & joy gleaming machine from the garage & say to yourself, "I'm going to keep this one clean".
You mean it when you say it, but unless you're obsessed with cleanliness, it never takes long for a clean & tidy car to go down the wrong road & end up a smelly tip.
So Busy Girls, cut yourselves some slack, dump the 'dirty car' guilt & practise a few keys to cleanliness...
1. Vacuum the interior of your car at least once a month
Dirt and grit work build up & breakdown your carpet fibres, wearing away the pile. Get yourself a Dirt Devil £39.99 Amazon & keep it near the front door, so you can grab & vac whenever you have a spare two mins.
2. Take your car to the handwash men once a month
Those new hand-wash centres really are fantastic - for only £5.00 they'll do the exterior of your car. Forget doing it at home - it's so much more time consuming. They don't do a great job of alloys though, so try to have a quick wipe over when you get home with Halfords Alloy Cleaner £3.99
3. Use the right stuff!
If you do wash your car at home, only use car shampoo to wash your car - something like Mer Super Advanced Shampoo £4.99
- it protects the paint work from scratches & dullness. Apply soapy car wash with a sponge or rag, scrubbing as you go. Start at the top & work your way down sticking to one area at a time.
4. Remove the rust
To remove any rust on your car, gently rub it off with a steel wool pad or dab a wet sponge in baking soda & rub it onto the chrome. Let it stand for 20 minutes then rinse & buff dry with a rag. You’ll be amazed at how fabulous it looks!
5. Baking soda magic
Baking soda also works wonders on removing splatters & grime from windshield, headlights, chrome & enamel using the same method as above.
6. Keep bags under the passenger seat
Keep plastic grocery bags in your car for trash, empty weekly or as needed.
That's it Busy Girl - clean & simple & so much less guilt-enducing!
