Busy Green Home
Unless you've spent the last few years living on a deserted Island, you may have heard murmerings that our Planet is in a bit of trouble. However much you care about our environment, it can be really hard to help when you're so Busy.
Thank goodness the Busy Girls are here to help. Over the next few weeks, we'll be showing you just how to get green without taking time out of your busy schedule. Here's our quick tips on green living at home...
Busy Green Tip 1: Keep a jug of water in the fridge, so you don't have to run the cold tap til it's cool enough to drink.
Busy Green Tip 2: Use baking soda to clean your kitchen - it's a fantastic non-chemical, natural defence cleaner.
Busy Green Tip 3: Recycle your magazines - did you know every time you pile them 1 metre high, it saves a whole tree from the chop!
Busy Green Tip 4: Calculate your carbon footprint (www.carbonfootprint.com) & see where your energy is going
Busy Green Tip 5: Lower your water-boiler thermostat to 60 degrees celsius - it won't scold you & will be perfect for a bath
Busy Green Tip 6: Use the sunnier rooms in your house - they're warmer so you'll need less heating
Busy Green Tip 7: Put aluminium foil behind your radiators - so you heat your rooms, not your walls
Busy Green Tip 8: Make sure your loft is insulated. If not, get some rolls of insulation wadding & some rubber gloves, roll them out onto the floor - it takes minutes & saves hundreds of pounds
Busy Green Tip 9: Get some plants in! Brighten & condition the air with plants - combat electrical chemicals from your TV with Peace Lillies, ferns & palms.
Busy Green Tip 10: Turn the oven off 10 minutes before the food is cooked. The residual heat will keep the food cooking!
So, Super Busy Girl - you should have saved yourself a few pounds and a few carbon points with that little lot. Hope it helped - we'll be back with more tips very soon!
