Back to cool
"Dear Busy Girls Guide. As the winter clothes are coming back into store, please can you give me some idea as to this season's trends - ones I can actually get away with wearing!?" Thank you, Heather, Mottram St. Andrew.
Dear Heather,
I 'm so glad you've asked me this question - I get all giddy this time of the season as the remnants of the summer sales disappear & deep rich colours find their way instore, especially when it's raining & I want to put my thick tights & boots on!
I thought I'd answer your question in 2 parts - concluding in 2 weeks, to make this season's trends easy for you to follow: my first top 3 AW07 trends are:
1. Purple
Purple will be HUGE this season - from lilac to mauve, this colour was massive at London Fashion Week back in February & has already hit the high street in a big way - with Oasis having the biggest selection so far.
The great news is that any shade of purple will do, so if you have something at the back of your wardrobe from last winter, blow off the cobwebs & wear it with pride!
Busy Top Buy - Vivienne Westwood Red Label knit (£220), dress up with black tights & heels or down with straight leg jeans & a ballet pump.
2. Silhouette
Creating a curvy silhouette is back so say 'adios' to smock tops & 'ola' to high-waisted trousers & pencil skirts.
Busy Top Buy Team this Principles pencil skirt (£35) with a ruffle blouse or puffed sleeve shirt, creating a strong shoulder for accentuated curves.
Top Busy Tip If you lack curves, wear an eye catching waist belt to instantly create a cinched in look.
3. Metallics
Spring / Summer saw metallic accessories flying off the shelves - this season designers have taken it to the next level with bling-tastic sheens on trousers, dresses, tops & suits!
It's not really the Busy Girls' style to leap into the office sporting a shiny silver suit but we're totally up for metallic blouses or jumpers to bring out a subtle sheen.
Top Busy Buy This Diab'less Sequin Collar Top (£140) gives value for money worn with a suit or straight leg jeans. If shoes are your thing, add a splash of metal with these yummy Kurt Geiger silver t-bar shoes (£120).
Next week I'll touch bring more detail on AW coats, trousers & dresses - there are changes afoot!
Happy shopping ...
