Baby trained

If you're pregnant or planning on having children & run your own business then you are probably panicking about how you'll manage your work days with a baby in tow.

Here is how we manage the working day down at All Words with the youngest member of the team, 9 month old Mia.

6.30 Mia wakes singing, daddy gives bottle, Mia goes back to sleep

7.00 Mum wakes up, checks emails & deals with urgent queries, squeeze in quick work related activity - checks list of work to be done for the day

7.30 Mia gets up (properly) & has breakfast & play time

9.30 Mia washed & back to bed for morning nap. Mum gets to work - this is the time to make calls & deal with work that requires complete focus

11.00 Mia awake - plays on office floor while Mum deals with tasks such as filing, paperwork

12.00 Feeding time at the zoo - Mum thinks through work tasks that need to be completed this afternoon whilst feeding Mia

1.30 Mia has afternoon nap - another time for focused work, phone calls & anything that can't be done when distracted

2.15 Time for a good long walk outside or trip out somewhere

5.00 Feeding (again)

6.30 Dad home from work, takes over while Mum gets back to the office - plans what needs to be done the next day

7.30 Stop for a bite to eat & some quality time with Daddy

9.00 Back to the office to work, this is a peaceful, productive time to work & if you are a night owl like me then it is perfect

Top Busy Mum Tips

1 Clearly make the distinction between 'working time' & 'available time'. If this involves having a timetable on the fridge door or a lockable office door then do it.

2Learn to politely, but firmly, say no. If hubbie wants his trousers taken to the dry cleaners then tell him to do it, if friends call for a consoling chat then ask them to call back at a more convenient time.

3Don't get distracted - allocate times in the day to certain tasks & stick with them. Organisation can really help you focus on work when needed & leave you free for the kids at other times.

We hope this helps you to become super slick mum - if you have any questions or comments, please send them via the comment box below... have a great week Busy Girls!
